Think Yourself Real

June 8, 2012

I’ve decided to do something that I have never done before: Blog at home! As of late I have been travel blogging while out of the comforts of home. It has been a way for me to share my experiences with people at home, and has been a form of expression for me that resonates with my introspective thought process. Maybe I’m not a quick wit; my mind doesn’t respond quickly enough. Perhaps I have trouble putting my thoughts into words when I’m asked a question, or attempt to relate an experience. I feel good when I write. I am able to express myself that way. It helps me to focus on what seems to be important to me in a day, or in a moment. Sometimes the mind can be scattered, and it needs something to cling to. So maybe I will write something here that interests you.

Why haven’t I thought to blog from home before?

Well, what would I write about? Home is home. It’s not a new place. There isn’t much novelty to knock people off their seats with. But is that the point? Are we here to be knocked off our seats? Or just to appreciate what’s here in front of us?

So, in the non-novelty of home, I propose to challenge us all to look around us, or inside of us, and notice what’s there. I’ve decided to call this blog “think yourself real” because we ARE what we THINK. Thought is the food of the mind. We often unconsciously eat food that’s in front of us, or simply don’t take the time to prepare a nourishing meal because it takes too much effort, although we know it would make us feel better physically, and would satisfy us more thoroughly. In the same way, we often let the mind make its own decisions about what we think about. Rather than focusing our attention consciously, we are on autopilot, not really thinking about what is in front of us in the moment. At home, the lack of what our mind finds new and exciting gives the mind more of a reason to wander around aimlessly, thinking about whatever comes to it. But since we are NOT our MINDS, I believe we can choose to assist our minds to focus on what we find important. We have the power of perception; which, when it comes right down to it, is our experience of reality.

I don’t pretend to live this truth in all aspects of my life. My mind is an expert in resistance! Although I do believe it with all my heart. I invite everyone to join me on a journey to conquer the resistant mind, and to become more connected with our reality through the powers of thought and perception.

Much love,

Amanda
